I'm not sure how I feel about this yet... Angelides is too much of a wimp to run anything, much less California... I guess this is the best of the choices we had...

Nothing personal: But no such thing happened. He was however supposed to pass the ab647 bill- but renegged. Its now up to the CA residents, and anyone else that is willing to help-let the CA Gov know they want them to be classified as a Domestic Ferret- This will take authority away from the CA Dept of Fish ANd Game- Hopefully that will open the door to have them legalized. This whole ordeal is a very long story. Ill keep it short and sweet. Support the leagalize ferret organizations. Ca residents need people to speak out for those who are too afraid to.

I know Ferrets are usually already spayed and nutered before they're sold... But what if they got microchipped as well when bought... That way if dumb people buy ferrets, then release them... They can be caught and fined and unable to buy another one, ever.

It sounds good to me, but I might just be stupid.

My cat has a microchip in him... Thank God. One of the jerks around here caught him in a trap and turned him in to the SPCA- He was pissed when he found out my cat didn't get put to sleep.

Microchipping is yet another item we have agreed to - and so far, to no avail.

I hope it passes soon for all of you. The stress has to be almost unbearable to live with. If there was any way any of us in safe states could help, I'm sure we would--like write letters in support of the legalization for you all.

its a shame that they dont see the fuzzies like we do :(
i can understand if it was like it over here. there are far too many breeders over here that just let thier jills have babies yr after yr and then sell them for about £5. then kids get them take them home lose interest and they end up in shelter's.
u guys seems to have got the right idea by buying them at pet shop's.
i dont know of 1 pet shop in the uk that sells them.atleast your way as u said they can be chip and traced.it took me over a month to find my missy, then another to get the other 2 and they was all rescue's. so i hope you guys get what you want :) and that they hurry up about it. i would be a mess wondering if someone might come and take my babies off me :S
so good luck to you all :)

Wow! That's a loaded question for us Californians. Not only did the guy lie to us about signing a ferret bill if it made it to his desk, he tried to silence all the public safety, teachers and nurses unions cause he wanted to eliminate survivor benefits for those groups, among other things (I was a police officer union rep before I retired and became a ferret union rep LOL). Speaking for myself...:piss: on Ahnold!

I'm all for micro chipping our fuzzies...if they would straighten out the issue of the readers not being able to read every chip. There are so many companies out there now designing these chips and the codes are all different..so unless the SPCA or the vet has the scanner for your chip's code...it won't read it. Basically, that means that if I get my babies chipped here and move to another city...their SPCA may not have the right scanner...so your fuzzy will probably have to be re-chipped.
Hopefully these micro chipping manufacturers will get their :poop: together soon. Several years ago this wasn't a problem until free enterprise raised it's often problematic head and everyone started making them.

I'm so glad you were able to get your kitty back, you're right...that neighbor was a big jerk.
