I agree with BBM.. More litter boxes are a must if you only have one. You also need to keep fresh poopie in his box. What type of litter are you using? How much are you using? All these do play a part in training.

Everyone beat me to it!

Don't forget to be patient with your little guy. He's gonna make alot of mistakes and you have to gently remind him. Just be glad you don't have to lead by example in this case... LOL!!!!

everybody said it perfectly. patience, persistence, and understand that ferrets never become 100% housebroken.

Just remember, it could be worse... Your ferrets could come home drunk and light fires in your living room! LOL JK!!!!!

Fingers in my ears singing lalalalalalala!!!! I pray I never hear that out of my daughter's mouth. My ferrets are all boys so I'm safe there....I wonder if I can have my daughter spayed, or do you think a chasity belt would be better??

Definitely a chastity belt... with razor-sharp, stainless steel-serrated teeth!!!

A lot of patience, poopie in the box to let him know, more litter boxes, and meanwhile put newspaper underneath the boxes, that way if he has an accident you can have an easy clean up.

Also, you will need the famous Nature's miracle to clean up the areas where he accidentally goes, using this you are going to cut the smell that they look for when they have to go...

Oh! they do not go where the eat or play, so you can always put and extra bowl of food and water, or toy in some places where you do not want him to go... I did this with mine becasue they liked to go in the entrance of our apartment and the kitchen.. I started putting food and water in these places and they do not go now so.. good luck!!!!

I also use a blanket on the floor in a couple spots so they think it's a place to nap--it works!!:smartass:

what i do because stinker somtimes goes in her box and other times she doesnt..its hit and miss w/ her but i dont mind..i get my guys out and set them in their box one at a time and say go poopie...they try and get out usually twice..by the third time they have gone and i give them lots of reinforcement...and loving..stinker usually goes right in front of the box.somtiems they may not like the box ...i have a triangle one thats outside and in thier cage they have a big square one...w/ more room..and i think thats why they might not like the one thats outside their cage..maybe that might have somthing ...line the area w/ newspaper too..like put newspaper down around the box and then set the box down. so if they go near the box its on the paper and it wont be such a big deal..like everyone else has said their could be worse things... but just have lots of patients..its a hit and miss they are not going to perfect.
