I'm sorry, I'm not understanding what is pink and swolen. What did your vet say it was? And what treatments did he/she have you do? Can you post some pictures of this area to help us understand and help you out?

i am unable to get a picture where it shows it well. his one toe is a pinkish red color and is swolen but his whole foot is swolen compared to his other one. his vet is not sure of what it is and is kinda just trying out diffrent meds to see if anything helf of which nothing really has. she has taken multiple scrapings and hasnt found anything out from them. so now i have been surching the web in hopes of finding something that might help. and so far i have not been finding anything

I think I know what this maybe without a photo. Let me look somethings up and I'll post back here. How long has his foot been like this and how old is he?

It's hard for me to be sure without a photo, but it sounds like this is what your little guy may have.

Foot Rot
The symptoms of this condition are itchy red swollen and scabby feet. The condition is caused by a parasite, the Sarcoptes Scabiei (a type of mite). Veterinary treatment is required to rid ferret the parasite. If treatment is not received condition will get worse and the ferrets claws will likely fall off. (aka Scabies)

Do you know if your vet looked for this?

I'm no vet, but I don't think this parasite can be detected by a scraping. It's under the skin. In looking at the link I sent alone with the text information, am I even close to what this infected area looks like? I can keep looking, I would like to help you.

i have never seen him itch it at all, i would think it could get past on to other animals if it was a paraiste that he has and i also have 5 cats along with him and i also think it would have spred to other parts of him and it is only one toe so i am not sure i will bring it up with his vet and see what she says about it . i think it should show up on a scrapping he has had multiple srapings so i dont know but thank you for helping its really great

I guess all you can do is bring it up to his vet and see what she has to say. Please keep us posted, as all of us here care a great deal for these little guys. Look forward to hearing from you soon.

lovin roy- does your vet treat ferrets regularly? I'm sure he/she is a great vet, but some vets focus more on certain animals than others. I think:wave2: king that if they don't see/treat ferrets often that they may not realize other things that may be the issue or symptom.:wave2:

i hope your baby gets better and i would just take the info that was posted here to the vet and see what he/she thinks and find out if he/she specializes in ferrets or knows alot about them...but i hope everything gets better..i was thinking of bumblefoot first cause i know alot of rats get it..but i wasnt soo sure about ferrets but bumblefoot is when they walk on the cages and its just the wires that they are walking on it causes an irritation..

Your baby is sooo cute!! I definitely would get his foot checked by a vet who has more focus on ferrets. It almost looks like a growth instead of just swelling.:(

I hate to put any vet down, therefore all I'll say is go to a different vet, one that works with ferrets on a daily basis. Please do this sooner than later, and keep us posted on what the other vet has to say.

Best of luck.

I would definately go to another vet..........

i would find a vet that treats ferrets and other exotics regularly! ferrets have very different medical needs from other domestic animals, and i would absolutely find a vet that has daily experience with ferrets.
