Well today is a sad day indeed as we had to help our dog Yeller to the Bridge.

He was 16 years old and since I am only 19 you can imagine we were very, very close.

The last month or so he was not himself, he got to the point where he was falling over while trying to walk, and was unable to clean his own face after he ate his wet (couldn't eat dry) food. He also always had little cysts everywhere, but the last month it seems they just exploded and his whole body was one giant lump.

However, he did not seem like he was in pain at all.

I know that he is healthy and happy and running around right now with all of his new friends at the Bridge.

I cannot find a picture right now but once I do I will post one.

It is so difficult to lose those special buddies you have during your youth because it seems like they were there for you no matter how confusing life could be during teen years. Your dog must have been so well loved and cared for to live to such a long time. When I was in vacation bible school when I was about 7 the pastor told me dogs and animals didn't go to heaven and I told him that if my dog wasn't going to heaven neither was I. I do believe our pets go to heaven and are waiting for us...I am not the most religious person and am now in my 40s but I do believe with all of my heart that one day when I die I will be reunited with all the pets I loved so much during my life for being with those loves of my life truly will be heaven. Hang in there I know how hard this is for you. It's okay to cry.

I'm so very sorry to hear of your loss. In deed-He must have been truly loved to live that long. At least he knew you were there and hopefully went in peace. Sweet dreams Yeller.

I also believe our pets are waiting for us!! Why would God make such perfect beings and not give them the same rewards as we are promised? It is so very painful when you lose a pet that you have loved--whether it's for 20yrs., or only for a day. ((((((hugs)))))

so sorry to hear that. i'm sure he knew during his long life that you loved him. just remember he's waiting for you, and probably looking down on you like a guardian angel.
