WHAT HAPPENED TO THE FERT ALERTS IN MAY?
Life has been so busy for us that there was little time to do anything other than just keep up these past two months. Our apologies to those wondered what happened to their Fert Alert last month. Read on to find out more about OCF and what’s going on with the fastest growing chapter of Ferrets Anonymous anywhere!

OCF JUNE MEETING 6/9/07 @ 2 P.M.
Next weekend (June 9th), we’ll be holding our third meeting of 2007 at Heritage Park in Irvine, CA at 2 p.m. We anticipate a big turnout since we had such a large number of signups at the OC Pet Expo in April. We’ve even begun to work with several of the people we met while working the Pet Expo who are eager to begin working with OCF! This is an exciting time for OCF and its membership! If you’ve been a member of OCF from the sidelines, why not get involved? Please make sure to let us know whatever strengths or talents you have that can be put to good use! For more information on the meeting, please visit http://www.ocferrets.org – the map of the park and general information for the meeting are already online! -See you on Saturday! ________________________________________

OCF LOGO – IT’S DONE!
In case you didn’t notice, OCF now has an official logo that will accompany all OCF correspondence and member activites. We were able to work with a couple of talented artist who helped us come up with the logo and we hope you all love it as much as we do! In the very near future, we’ll be having OCF apparel made that will be perfect for attending pet shows, expos, the annual FA Round Up and other activities to let the world know that you’re not only a ferret lover, but a proud member of OCF !

SURRENDERS
Sadly, the number of surrenders has gone up exponentially over the past few months. If you would like to become a foster ferrent (ferret parent), please let us know. This time of year seems to be the time when people who are in over their heads, decide that they can no longer care for their pet and the animal is either set loose (which most times seals their fate since they cannot live on their own) or they are surrendered to try to find a forever home for the animal.

OCF ADOPTS F.U.F.S.
OCF is proud to announce that we will begin to sponsor a ferret shelter in need. Ferrets Unlimited Ferret Shelter (FUFS) in Cleveland, Ohio is operated by Jean Caputo-Lee and is in dire need of assistance. Please start gathering anything you can that is in good condition for donation to Ferrets Unlimited. Over the weekend of July 20, 2007 OCF ambassadors will be making a field trip to Ferrets Unlimited for the weekend to help clean the shelter, make repairs on anything that’s in disrepair and do whatever we can to help out this wonderful ferret shelter. All airfare to the shelter will be donated by each person flying out to assist for the weekend. OCF will be making hammocks and sleep sacks with the help of OCF’s own angel, <real name removed to post on LF> Megawee who will also be making the field trip from her home in Indiana. This is a great opportunity to give back to an organization that has been helping ferrets in need for the past 13 years. If you would like to donate, or include yourself in the field trip To Ferrets Unlimited, please call OCF at (949) 241-1189. Homeless babies are depending on us, and it’s the least we can do!

DONATIONS & STORAGE NEEDED
We need storage space for items donated for OCF use. These items may be used for surrenders or to help out an OCF member who may have a need. Items may be used cages and habitats in good condition (no rusted cages), litter boxes, bedding (washed please), or anything else that ferrets may need to live comfortably. We are not asking anyone to rent a storage facility. Rather, we need someone to furnish a corner of a garage or their unused storage space in their rafters of their garage for storage space. Thanks in advance for your help!

I am so excited about this little "field trip" to Ohio. I love making the little sacks for the wee ones, but this is so great. I will be able to get right in the middle of things and get my hands dirty. To actually step in a make a small difference. This is so exciting! Did I say that yet?

KD... when I bought Genesis the pet owner got me to buy a bag of 3lb ferret food. I never even opened it since I don't feed Genesis any kibble. Not sure if it would do any help for you with the FUFS needs. Here's a link of the food:

Let me know if it is needed at FUFS. I would be more then glad to take it to the meeting.

It's not on their list, but I'm sure they won't turn it away. Just be sure when bringing it to the meeting that it's not expired or has at least a years life time left on it.

LOL - I have no life, are you kidding? The kids and BM ARE my life! I work on the website pretty often, and constantly find ways to improve upon it. When I become proficient in Dreamweaver, I will be able to do a redesign of the site and incorporate even more. When we started OCF, I had never built or worked on websites before. The fact that it even works, much less looks halfway decent is a freakin' miracle!

Notice that all of the Fert Alerts are online now? You can read all the history to-date with OCF by just reading the newsletters. Its easy now that I have it all organized. Every time I e-publish a new Fert Alert - I'll just toss it on the website after I email it out.

Thanks for the uplifting comments Lisa! Thanks a bunch!

No kidding, I just realized that every page but one page of the OCF site was titled wrong... lol
Fixed! -I didn't realize I had so many pages in the site these days! Next month, the site will be one year old.
