Here's the short list method:
Sweets of any kind
Fruits are useless to ferrets nutritionally
Anything processed, contains additives that aren't good for them
Anything that's not mostly protein with a high level of fat content.
Note: We use Marshall Farms Premium Ferret Diet exclusively, although there are others out there that people swear by including Zupreme, Totally Ferret, Mazuri, Sheppard & Greene, and Wysong in no particular order...

One piece of advice that I would give to you Shaska is this, just because it says its for ferrets doesn't always mean that it is good for them, read the ingrediants first!!!! People sale things to make a buck whether or not its good for the fuzzys, after all look at all the stuff thats out there thats not good for our own children to consume!! Stick with what you know is good for them, no sugars, no fruits, no dairy products, no nuts, use a high grade ferret food like total ferret or Zupreme or even a very good kitten food like eukanuba for a snack in a dish for them along with there regular foods. lots of people think you need to give them a sweet or a fruit for a snack once in a while, but think if they never have it they won't miss it! Hope this helps you out some!!!

Thanks so much, both of you.
Those are a really big help.
I was wondering where I can get those high quality foods for ferrets?
Would you recommend the ferret store because they do have free shipping..

Yes the ferret store is fine, you should also get a good high grade food at a pets store, plus I purchase alot of things from the Ferretdepot.com, theres s&h charges but their prices are good. I myself feed a mixture of Marshalls, Zupreme, and Eucanuba kitten food, then I keep a crock out on the floor in their room full of just plain Total Ferret for them, they have a mixture of hard an soft dry food that way, they seem to be doing fine, as for snacks I give them only the cheweasles thats safe for them and N-bones, Good luck with your fuzzys!!!
i've heard that even in california, u can buy ferret food and supplies in petshops.

You heard correctly!
Ours eat so friggin' much - they'd better sell it!!!
We have a Petsmart store maybe 4-5 minutes away where we always buy their food & litter...and I tuck toys under my arm or into the basket... and get the look from Mama...
You know, the one I respond to by saying, "whaaaaaat?" :whistling: Lately, I've been spoiling via internet sales... lol Sometimes, a bunch of brightly colored fun in a box just shows up... again... :whistling:

i'm the same way! i'm always trying to get a new toy or something to amuse and entertain bandit everytime we go to pet partners in bristol. maybe bandit would enjoy another trip to the park. but i still want to keep him entertained and amused when he is indoors.

Bandit's adorable.
I wish we could walk ferrets so freely. Take them to the park.
I would shudder to think of the consequences.

i consider myself lucky to live in a state that's ferret friendly. i would hate to live in california with bandit.
