a few days ago we got bandit one of those flat square water bottles with the little yellow duck inside that shows the water level. at first the bottle leaked all over, probably because it was at the wrong angle, but we re-adjusted it and it seems to be ok, and i check it throughout the day.

are those good water bottles to use for ferrets? the bottle fits on the outside of the cage, not with wire, but with a plastic holder. i can't remember the brand name, we tossed the packaging.

Hi Phill we have one of those, its currently in the newbies cage, I can't remember its name either but I like it, I don't think ours leaks much, only when the cage is jarred or something!!!

Phil, We have those water bottles and our leaked as well. What you have to do is hold it right side up (as if it were in the cage) squeeze the bottle push in the ball, let water flow out, release your finger from the ball and release the squeeze from the bottle. This creates a vacum on the water bottle. Give it a try.

They are the best water bottles you can buy... as long as you pressurize them properly.

Otherwise, they drip incessantly.

this sounds complicated. maybe this is the same thing i have done with other water bottles. i'll try. what do i do...push the ball in and squeeze the bottle at the same time? i want to make sure i've got it right. maybe email me the instructions so i can print it out and follow it step by step.

Flat-Back Water Bottle Pressurizing

1. Turn water bottle nozzle side down over a sink.
2. Lightly squeeze water bottle.
3. Press on ball.
4. Allow water from inside bottle to squirt out.
5. Release ball.
6. Release pressure on water bottle.
7. Check for dripping water.
8. Reinstall water bottle.

There it is, step by step.

Oh we love flat back water bottles and swear by them! We had the most horrible drippin problem with all other bottles. Now every critter in our home has a flat back, right down to the hamster!
