Here are some fun facts I found out about ferrets.

*Ferrets live 6-8 years on a verage(sometimes up to 11 or 12)

*Girl ferrets are called jills,and boy ferrets are called hobs,baby ferrets are called kits.

*In North America,spayed females are sometimes called sprites and neutered males are called gibs.

*A group of ferrets are called a "business of ferrets".

*Males tend to be larger then females ferrets in lenth and weight.

*Ferrets sleep a larg part of the day,commonly around 18 hours.

*After waking,yong ferrets sometimes lack enough bladder control to travel from one level of a cage to another to use a litter box.

*Baby ferrets are born underdeveloped,so sleep provides an important opportunity for the body to grow.

*Ferrets twist into strange shapes during sleep and,if there's more than one ferret,they often sleep on top of each other to share body warmth.

*Although ferrets might enjoy eating candy,don't allow them to ingest any.Not only is the sugar bad for ferrets,some candy could cuse an immediate intestinal blockage requiring sugery to correct.

thanks so much for posting those. if bandit lived to 11 or 12 i would be amazed. and very happy. i think 6-8 years, unfortunately, is probably more common in this country.

i did! i'd love to get one of those magazines sometime. i've heard of "ferrets" magazine, but i've never had a copy to look at myself. they're expensive at the store.

No, keep 'em coming! I have a ferrets magazine too, and yes Phil,it can be costly. This one cost 7.50 at Petsmart.
